In case you’re wondering,

It’s ‘Oh my goodness, thank God it’s finished!!!’

I mean, this has been a lot harder than I thought! I have learned a great deal while sewing this quilt. And I so greatly appreciate the tutorial from http://www.modabakeshop.com here’s the link:

So here’s my version:

Of course it doesn’t look the same because I had some issues with my blocks not coming out the same size. (Such a newbie, lol) I also bought a new flat sheet in a pretty powder blue to make the backing and the binding, which was not part of the tutorial, but I wanted to try it. So I just basted it and quilted and cut down the flat sheet down to 2″ all the way around and then folded and sewed it over around the entire quilt. About the easiest part of the quilt. Although the tutorial was very clear and easy. Now I know what they meant when they listed it as a ‘moderate’.

But overall it turned out pretty cute for my third quilt. I love it and I got done within my one month time frame. Thanks Moda Bakeshop!!!

Luck of the Irish, to ya

Good Sunday funday,

Seriously I have not fell off the face of the earth. I’ve really been trying to finish this quilt for March. And every new step I’ve learned I’ve been scared to try a new technique. So, I’ve sewn all of my 25 blocks for my pinwheel block and now I’m going to try the ‘quilt as you go’ method. And I’ve read several tutorials but I just don’t understand them so, like most things that I learn, I’m going to wing it and see how it goes. Crazy I know but that’s the only adventure that I’ve seen in my life in the past few months so I’m going to go with it. I figured I’ll try stippling, a free-motion quilting technique and quilt each block with the batting, leaving the pinwheel unquilted, so that I might quilt each pinwheel when I put the backing on. I haven’t decided if I want to put sashing in between each block or just sew the blocks together like the original pattern. I want the pinwheels to really stand out so I might go with the same color for the sashing. And I didn’t tell you that I messed up the original blocks somehow, I don’t know if it was my seam allowance (1/4″ or scant 1/4″) or if I just cut the strips from the fat quarters wrong. Anyway, I just cut them all with a 12″ square block and they’re fine now. Still pretty darn cute though

And this is how my stippling went, yes still pretty darn cute, as well

So, I have 1 down 24 more to go and just 2 weeks left, we’ll see!!

Wish me the Luck of the Irish,

Have a blessed one

A Peek Into The Life

Howdy folks!!

Well, yes I’m making progress on my pinwheel quilt. I made an executive decision to go with the gray and I think I made the right choice. What do you think?

I’m kinda loving the gray!!!

So meanwhile I haven’t heard anything back about my promotion, but….if I don’t get it. I know that The Lord has bigger and better plans for me and my family.

So here I am, here at work on break and getting through the daily routine of sitting at my computer and helping to make people’s lives a little more comfortable by doing my job accurately and proficiently. Hey, I’m doing my part no matter how great or small. But let me share with you what helps get me through the day. I have my wonderful IPhone and I listen to music, books, the Bible, and sermons all day. I listen to a wide variety of music, from Needtobreathe, Cee Lo Green, Jason Mraz, Fun., Miranda Lambert, Pink, Adele, Beyonce, Dixie Chicks, Amos Lee, Punch Brothers, Third Day, Josh Turner, Queen, and everyone in between, all with my Rhapsody app. I LOVE music!!

As far as my book selection that I listen to with my Audible.com app; I love anything from Francine Rivers. I love Christian fiction, classics, and Ancient Greek and Roman history, as it pertains to Christian history.

I listen to the Bible on my YouVersion app and I listen to sermons from my local church at Lakeview and I adore listening to sermons from John McArthur in California, with my GracetoYou app.

So, yep, you guessed it, I would be lost without my phone during the day. And you might think it would distract me, but no, it actually makes me more productive!

Then, by the time I clock out for the day it’s all about my kids. I LOVE those girls like, like, well, I don’t what to compare it to. They’re only second to my love of The Lord. Not to get all mushy😘
And you’ll read about them in future posts and I’ll talk about them like they’re little kids, but they’re taller than me and almost grown, 14 & 21. Yeah that 21 year old is not grown until she finishes college and is on her own.

So that’s my day for the most part and then I try to throw some baking, sewing, and quilting in there, hahaha…to the best of my superhuman abilities

Good morning and god bless

And Sew It Continues

Good evening mates,

Here it is, a quarter to midnight and I’m still at my machine, trying to finish the 100 blocks that are needed for this “Vintage Modern Pinwheel” quilt that I’m making. I already know I’m going to love this quilt. I love the colors and the prints from this line of Annette Tatum “Tailored” collection. It reminds me of a sophisticated, afternoon tea with the ladies from the Bridge club. Hahaha, just kidding, I have no idea what that would be like, since I don’t think I’m quite at that age to be in a bridge club, drinking tea with gray-haired ladies. But, I’m halfway there. I’ve already started with the gray hair and I love it!! I’m probably the only woman that I know that’s looking forward to a full head of gray hair. Hey, what can I say, it makes me think of wisdom and sophistication, and saying whatever’s on your mind and getting away with it😆

Here’s my progress so far:

I haven’t decided what color fabric to make my pinwheel, because I want my pinwheels to stand out. I have this beautiful gray fabric that I was going to use for my tie quilt.

Or this really cute white Easter fabric with little crosses that I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to use it for, I just like it.

What do you think white or gray?????

Here’s the original quilt that I’m basing my quilt from, just to get an idea. It’s from http://www.modabakeshop.com which I simply adore their site!! Thanks for the tutorial!!

Anyway, back to my machine.

God bless and goodnight
